Shop Drawings

Shop drawings are made for the purpose of communicating the dimensions, style, material and layout of your staircase. These drawings are the property of Acadia Stairs and may not be used by 3rd parties for any purpose, unless permission is granted in writing by Acadia Stairs. Fabrication will not begin until the shop drawing is signed clear by you and received by Acadia Stairs. Most of our shop drawings have the following statement:

I approve of the above layout and dimensions. It is the responsibility of the person that signs below to verify that they meet Local Building Requirements. Notify Acadia Stairs and initial any changes or mark-ups. Shop Drawings may be re-submitted at the discretion of Acadia Stairs depending upon the change.  This Shop Drawing represents all the options, layout and dimensions for this order. Upon approval this custom made order can not be changed or canceled.  Fabrication can not begin until Shop Drawing is signed and dated below and received by Acadia Stairs.

Shop drawings are included at no extra charge with most of the stairs we sell. One revision set is also included at no extra charge should the need arise. Any further revisions may result in extra charges at the discretion of Acadia Stairs. The customer will be notified by way of a revised proposal before any fees are added for further shop drawing revisions. If an order is cancelled before the product is fabricated, but after shop drawings have been prepared, a minim fee shall be applied before the deposit can be refunded. An average fee for a single page spiral stair is $300 to $2000+ for a 4 page stringer stair shop drawing with multiple revisions.

Shop Time Hourly Rate

$85 per hour minimum, $40 minimum charge for custom fabrications
Stair products are sold by the individual order and are not subject to shop time hourly rate unless specifically noted on the order form or proposal.

Purchasing and Payments

We accept cash, personal check, business checks, bank checks, cashier’s checks for all deposits. A deposit of 50% is required to process an order, unless written otherwise in the proposal. This deposit is non-refundable for all custom work upon commencement of fabrication. Orders can not be changed or cancelled without written consent from Acadia Stairs. All material is guaranteed to be as specified. All work to be completed in a workmanlike manner according to standard practices. Any alteration or deviation from the specifications on the approved proposal involving extra costs will be executed only upon written orders, and will become an extra charge over and above the estimate.  All agreements contingent upon strikes, accidents or delays beyond our control. The balance of the amount due in the proposal is due immediately upon completion, upon receipt at our factory, or before delivery. Customer is responsible for legal/collection fees of 25% if those services are needed to collect on past due invoices.

Shipping and Handling

We take the utmost care in packaging and shipping your staircase. Upon receipt of your product immediately inspect all packaging for visible damage to the packaging. Count all boxes and ensure that all pieces are present. Open any damaged boxes and inspect the product(s) for damage and report it immediately and note the damage or missing articles before signing received.  In the unlikely event that your product is damaged or missing, Acadia Stairs will work with the carrier to ensure a rapid remedy or replacement of your items. We use minimal packaging for stairs that are picked up at our factory. Please have an appropriate vehicle for the weights and dimensions of your product. Please have protective blankets, straps, flags etc. to secure your product in your vehicle.

Wood Products

Acadia Stairs provides most of the wood products we sell natural and unfinished. This allows you the client to stain or seal the wood as you see fit, to match existing materials and meet the requirements of the rigors of the environment to which it is subjected. Upon receipt of your wood products review it for checking, marks, cracks or other damage and notify us immediately. Verify the dimensions of the products against your shop drawing, or dry-fit it to ensure proper installation. Immediately following that your wood should be stained or sealed to avoid cracking and end-grain checking. Changes in moisture and temperature can cause the wood to check, warp or crack if left un-sealed for even a short amount of time. Acadia Stairs is not responsible for damage to your wood products after they have been received in good condition. We can not accept returns of custom fabricated items, field modified stock items or products damaged after 7 days of receipt.


Acadia Stairs may accept returns for stock items. A re-stocking fee of 15% will be applied before any refund. Refunds will only be applied if the return is at the consent of Acadia Stairs. Custom work may not be refunded, or an amount may be refunded at the discretion of Acadia Stairs. All return shipping is the responsibility of the customer.


Acadia Stairs is proud of the products we provide. All products are covered by a 1 year limited warranty from the date of purchase. Acadia Stairs warrants the product to be made per the specifications as described in the order and/or shop drawings. We stand behind the products we sell. Should any issue arise with your product please notify us as soon as possible so that we can help resolve any issues with the product you are experiencing.

Repairs, Replacement Parts and Upgrade Accessories

Acadia Stairs does not pay for any parts or labor regarding repair, replacement or upgrade of any of the products we provide without our prior knowledge and written consent. We reserve the right to deny partial or all costs regarding repairs or replacement parts done without our prior agreement. Replacement parts and upgrade parts can be made for most of the stairs we sell, please contact us regarding your need with your original order number available.
