Metal Finishes

At Acadia Stairs, you can choose from a wide array of metal finishes to complete the look of your custom project. So whether you envisioned bright and bold colors, or a more natural blended look, we’ve got you covered.

And keep in mind, there are also particular finishes available depending on the material of the staircase you’ve chosen—one of our designers would be happy to walk through those additional options with you.

  • Aluminum stairs can be sandblasted, primed, or powder coated
  • Stainless steel staircases are available with a mill finish, glass bead blasted, or a #4 brush finish
  • We can also leave your staircase unpainted or simply primed with red-oxide or flat black primer

Available Colors

Don’t see what you’re looking for? No problem. Acadia Stairs can accommodate most requests. Our goal is to make your custom staircase exactly how you envisioned it so don’t hesitate to ask about the specific colors or finishes you were hoping for!

And if you’re planning on having your staircase painted in the field and only need it primed, just let us know—we’d be happy to take your stair inspiration and deliver our custom designed staircase prepped with a basic mill finish, sand blasted, primed dark or light according to your painter’s recommendation.

Wood Finishes

We normally provide our wood products natural, ready for treatment by others in the field. Our wood treads come pre-sanded, but you may choose to sand with a fine-grit sand paper before using your favorite treatment.

There is a variety of treatments for wood available today such as stains, oils, polyurethane and epoxy finishes. Consult your local paint supplier or lumber yard as to the best wood finish for your application.

  • Natural wood products, ready for treatment
  • We offer clear coats to allow the natural character of the wood to show
  • We do not stain or color wood products due to the discrepancies in hue
  • All natural wood products are subject to variability and color changes depending on the species and exposure to sun and weather

Any wood we provide should be sealed or stained as soon as possible – before installation.

Wood Treatment Services

Some clients choose to have Acadia Stairs treat the wood for them. Our wood products are treated with a semi-gloss clear coat polyurethane. This basic treatment ensures that the wood is sealed and will resist damage and wear. Depending upon the application, we may use 3-4 coats of polyurethane on your treads.

Note: This service is provided at an extra cost above the normal price of the wood treads upon your request.

Rough-Cut Wood Treads

Special offers for rough-cut wood treads are sometimes available while supplies last. These wood treads may have knots, rough grain, saw marks, checked edges, or other imperfections on the bottom side of the tread.

These wood treads are perfect for closed riser stairs or stairs that the underside is not visible. In the interest of being as environmentally friendly as possible, we provide these seconds and overstock wood treads so that they do not go to waste. They are also offered at a substantial discount over our premium custom made wood treads.
