Manufacturing metal stair stringers begins with custom design consultation and engineering shop drawings tailored to the space. Structural steel components, such as steel tubes, channels, or plates, are precisely cut and fabricated. Treads and support plates are welded or assembled, followed by quality control and optional powder coating or galvanizing for interior or exterior durability.

Steel stair stringer sizing varies by configuration and layout requirements. Common structural profiles include 2x6, 4x6, and 6x8 steel rectangular tubes, 6x6 square tubes, 4-inch or 6-inch round steel tubes, and steel channels or structural plates. Tube dimensions and plate thicknesses, such as 3/8-inch tread plates, are selected based on stair span, design style, and traffic requirements.

While generic premade stringers exist for standard utility builds, custom-fabricated metal stair stringers provide superior structural integrity, precision fit, and aesthetic appeal.
